About fargo: My name is FARGO. My Animal ID # is A1118858. I am a neutered male black and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS **RETURNED FROM ACC FOSTER HOME 08/09/17** I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/18/2017 from NY 10466, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. 07/18/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO 07/18/17 10:56 Upon intake, Fargo allowed being collared, leashed, and having his picture taken. Fargo was ready to play and constantly jumping on Counselor?s lap. 07/21/2017 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: A BBB boy Big, Black and Beautiful?carved from pure alabaster and inlaid with ivory. Fargo made quite a number of admirers yesterday in the yard as a group of corporate visitors came to meet our dogs. He might be strong on the leash, but free in a pen, he moves with poise and grace. He is a true socialite, goes from one person to the other, sits on command, takes very gently treats (he has a soft mouth), wags his tail a lot, tries the kiddie pool: one foot, two feet, and then lays down to cool off. He was quite a sight, all spread out in the water. It must have felt good smart boy. Fargo seems to like other dogs, even the little ones. In playgroup with his peers, he engages in bouncy play. Fargo is a dark knight and it makes him look older and more serious than he truly is. He is indeed a young man, powerful and gentle, friendly, loving and so lovable who dreams to be your loyal and fun forever companion. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center. He is the one you have been looking for 07/25/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION AVERAGE Exam Type BEHAVIOR KNOWN HISTORY: None 7/25/17 Unaltered Male, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 7/19/17 Look: 3. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Jumps on assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessors hand without applying pressure. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. Summary: Fargo was social throughout his assessment and allowed all handling. He jumped up on and became a bit mouthy with the assessor during portions of the assessment. PLAYGROUP: Fargo is soft and polite when interacting with dogs in the care center. He has displayed interest in gentle play with female dogs. He has appeared soft and interested in greeting male dogs in passing, but has not yet been introduced to one off leash. Slow introductions are recommended between Fargo and social, respectful dogs.
INTAKE BEHAVIOR: Upon intake, Fargo was playful and allowed handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/18/17 During his initial medical exam, Fargo was active, social, and allowed handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Fargo so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide and seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
