About liam: Well isn't Liam looking much better! Take a look at his intake picture. Its amazing what a little TLC can do. Now that Liam is feeling better, he is ready to play too! Liam is all puppy! Puppy play, puppy energy, puppy happiness, puppy loving. He loves other dogs and took cover when the cats hissed at him. He is a fun pooch ready to live out his life with his forever family.
9/1/18 (other)- Liam is a male mix. Approximately 7-9 months old. Weight 46.6lbs.
Liam has a bacterial skin infection secondary to a flea allergy causing the large reddened areas and itching,he also has Demodex,causing the other circular regions of hair loss without itching or skin inflammation. Demodex is very common in young animals and does not indicate an underlying immune problem.We are treating his skin with a short course of Predisone for the itching and inflammation,Cefpodoxime for the bacterial skin infection,and Bravecto for flea prevention and Demodex control(lasts 3 months).He would also benefit from medicated bathing with Sebazole 2-3 times per week.None of these skin conditions are contagious to other pets or people,except for the fleas.No recheck is needed as long as his skin appears to be healing.
