Patient is very head reactive so no further exam of ear was able to be performed. +++Assessment: Previously noted mass is now irritated and bleeding. Removal and biopsy is indicated but is beyond surgical capacity of ACCT Philly Medical treatments: Carprofen: 125 mg PO SID x 5 days, Clavamox: 375 mg PO BID x 10 days Pathway: Recommend promotion for rescue willing to perform removal of ear mass 4/26 Vet Check- BCS= 8/9, mild gen MA. P is very resistant of oral exam, can see mod tartar on canines. AD has severe erythema and is stenotic. AS has large 4x4x4 cm spherical cauliflower-like mass protruding from R ear canal. Is erythematous Sinus arrhythmia present. Very tense abdomen, UTP detailed palp. P did not tolerate exam of perineal region +++Assessment: Senior with owner reported aggression as well as fear aggression noted during PE. Evidence of chronic otitis AS with mass AS. Mass in ear canal may be benign or cancerous; however, mechanically it is causing otitis infection and discomfort and will need to be removed for patient comfort. Sedated ear exam could be performed here however the surgical removal is very likely beyond our scope. Medical treatments: Recommend carprofen SID x 5d Behavior Observation: Per Vet Staff- tolerant at first but quickly became fearful and began growling then lunging Per Previous Owner- Quiet, calm, eager to please, affectionate, playful, People friendly and loves people, lays around all day, likes to lick people faces. Good with kids. Dog aggressive, has never been around cats. Describe concerning behavior issues: Dog Aggression. Why do you think this behavior is happening: When adopted the vet said she may have been a bait dog and didn't wanna bring her around dogs after seeing that. Bit another dog 4 years ago when the dog was walking across the street and chewy just nipped the dog before she could do any harm Personality: Meet Chewy! What an adorable little meatball. She's short, stocky, and has so much to love! Her family is moving and unfortunately cannot bring her with them. They described her as a calm, affectionate and eager to please. Chewy has a painful spot on her ear that she doesn't like being messed with, but she was more than accepting of rubs all over the rest of her body!
