About river: Hello, my name is River. My animal id is #82293. I am a male black dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 11/23/2019. Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only.

Lets get to know each other a bit more... A volunteer writes: There?s just something that I love about River!! Maybe it?s the way his little bottom lip juts out when he looks at me, or how he walks like a giant puppy with his paws not seeming to know exactly which way to go, or maybe it?s because he is so incredibly sweet and loving! River might lack the polishing of other dogs, but he more than makes up for it in charm. When I ask him to sit, he sort of tilts his head to the side, with such a cute look that I can?t help but reward him with a treat each time he does it. Now, I am pretty sure he thinks ?sit? means to look lovingly at the human and surely she?ll give you a snack! When he plays with squeaky toys, it?s like each time the toy squeaks he?s delighted and surprised by the enigma of it, he loves fetch and he adores giving his stuffies a good shake. River does seem to have some housebreaking, has done well in playgroup with other calm dogs and even seemed to ignore a cat we saw on our walk. Sweet River seems to have it all, the only thing he needs now is YOU. Ask to meet him today!

River was placed at risk due to behavioral concerns; Due to River's level of fear and discomfort with select handling combined with his propensity to startle easily, we feel as though he may be best set up to succeed if placed with an experienced rescue partner who can reassess his behavior in a more stable home environment. Rive was diagnosed with CIRDC, Alopecia, Nuclear Sclerosis and has Diarrhea at this time. Additional Information
