About geats: Geats ACCT-A-122261 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Geats must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Saturday, September 10th at 10AM. Should Geats's behavior or medical status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Please email lifesaving@acctphilly.org if your rescue can pull or if you can foster through rescue. 💞 Geats is a social and sweet young boy who was noted to avoid bearing weight on his rear left leg on Monday evening. He was able to bear some weight when crouched to move his bowels, however quickly reverted to hopping on three legs while returning to kennel. He was able to hop in and out of kennel without assistance. Volunteer saw him on Wednesday, and leg appears stiff with some limping noted. Dog is receiving pain medication. Geats needs an X-ray ASAP. Both eyes are also very red, and per medical record, dog has a fractured tooth with abscess. Per acct bio: Geats is an approximately 2-4 year old mixed breed dog that came into the shelter as a stray on 9/3. When Geats arrived, staff and volunteers noticed that he was limping on one of his legs, and was very friendly and sweet although scared. Unfortunately, the shelter does not have access to get Geats the radiographs he needs to diagnose why he is limping and get him treatment, so Geats will need to exit the shelter ASAP to get the X-rays that he needs. Geats has been mobile since being here and can get in and out of his kennel, but we are unsure if his leg is causing him pain and discomfort, and a rescue would be needed to get him further medical diagnostics. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
