Good Dog Meet (In Shelter)
Grant ACCT-A-248092 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Grant must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by TUESDAY, JUNE 2ND at 10AM. Should Grant's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Grant came to ACCT Philly in April after being found as a stray. After two weeks in the shelter, he was reclaimed by his family, but a few days later he was found tied to a bench and has not been reclaimed since. Grant is people-friendly, affectionate, and highly food-motivated, which makes him easy to work with. He knows 'sit,' loves toys and balls, and enjoys a good play session in the yard. He's happiest when he's getting attention, affection, and engagement from his people.
Grant can be playful and a bit jumpy at times and has shown some mouthing behavior, particularly around feet, but he redirects easily with treats or toys. He pulls mildly to moderately on leash and does best with patient handling and plenty of structured interaction. With other dogs, he was initially a bit stiff on greeting but quickly relaxed, offering a play bow and zooming around the yard once comfortable. Grant is best suited for children 12 and up, and the whole family must meet him prior to adoption. All he really wants now is a steady home, some good toys, and someone to match his big, happy energy. Due to his length of stay, Grant is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
*NEW* Per volunteer 5/31: I had Grant out for the photoshoot and he is such a fun pup! He was ready and waiting to get out! He was easy in and out of his kennel. He was a bit jumpy at times but once he got some zoomies out in the play yard, he lied down to relax. He had a great fence meet with Jade. We walked by a bunch of dogs and he showed appropriate interest. He is very lovable and enjoys pets! He let us put him in headband for the shoot and absolutely stole the show!
Per volunteer 5/26: Medium energy. Playful, likes to play ball.
Per volunteer 5/25: Slightly jumpy.
Per volunteer 5/21: Mild issues on leash. High to low energy. Good fence meet. Once Grant gets his energy out he becomes very gentle. Great temperament, no biting. Takes treats gently. A good boy.
Per staff 5/21: Medium energy.
Per volunteer 5/18: I had Grant out again this evening. He is such a good boy. Easy to leash & walk, loves to be pet and just sit in the shade with a stuffy.
Per staff 5/18: Good boy.
Per volunteer 5/17: High energy. Pulls a bit. Bring lots of treats. He loves the pool. Mild issues returning to kennel.
Per volunteer 5/17: I took Grant out tonight. He was very easy to leash and walk, had so much fun in the yard playing with a stuffed animal. He also sat with me and enjoyed being pet.
Per volunteer 5/16: High energy.
Per volunteer 5/15: Grant was at the front of the kennel eager to get out. Wow, was he ready to go! High energy, super playful. Poor guy had a ton of pent up energy he ran off all over the play yard. Super playful. Was jumpy and mouthy but was able to redirect with treat and toys. Very affectionate, allowed all over handling. Gave lots of kisses. Knows sit. Very treat motivated. Super sweet boy with a lot of energy. Must be so hard for him in iso but he takes full advantage of his time outside.
Per staff 5/13: Fun in yard. Loved toys. Loved being pet. Sweet, playful, high energy!
Per volunteer 5/13: I took Grant out tonight again. He is easy to leash, walk and return to the kennel. Very sweet and affectionate in the yard and loves to chew on balls! Very good boy!
Per volunteer 5/11: Mildly jumpy. Low-medium energy. Very cuddly in yard, loves balls, treats, and pets. Likes to nibble on ISO suit.
Per staff 5/10: Medium energy. Good on walk and on leash.
Per volunteer 5/8: Mildly mouthy. Medium-high energy. Did run in yard and played with toys.
Per volunteer 5/8: I also took him out last night, I would say can be a little mouthy, I didn't feel like he was "biting" at my shoes like others wrote on walk sheet, but more like mouthy at feet of the iso suit (longer than my actual feet because it's too big). And yes he was easily redirected with pepperoni, toy. And he walked well on the leash with me.
Per staff 5/7: Medium energy. Likes to be pet. Can start biting at shoes but easily redirected.
Per finder 5/5: Scared with strangers. Good on leash. Friendly and scared.
Per volunteer 5/1: I took Grant out last night who was very easy to leash. On the walk he pulled a slightly on the leash, but he appears house trained and did his business as soon as he came out. He was very playful in the yard and definitely loves being pet and playing with toys and overall it's just a very sweet dog.
Per day trip foster 4/24: Grant was a great dog who was very gentle at taking treats and food. He was very laidback and chill and was very curious. He loved to sniff around at the park and he was good when we saw other people/dogs.
Per staff 4/20, playgroup: Steer test 2/5 with water and 0/5 with can. High flagging tail and ears to the side at the fence. Came into the yard with nose to the ground. When the other dogs came up he was stiff and then quickly went into a play bow and zooming around the yard.
Per staff 4/20:
Kennel Presentation: Laying down in his kennel, when I called to him he came to the front, soft eyes, ears to the side, mid tail wags, loose body. Took a treat gently through the bars.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out. Pulled mild-moderately walking through the kennels with ears back, low tail, open mouth. Once outside he stopped frequently to sniff and pulled mildly on leash.
Sociability: Asocial in the yard. Would not come over when called, head low to the ground sniffing, tail low, ears back. Tolerated all handling with ears back, mid level tail wags, open mouth, loose body and would walk away when I stopped. Took treats gently outside.
Play: N/A
Dog Interaction: Met Tchalla, ears forward, hackles raised, high tail, tense body.
Return to Kennel: Pulled moderately walking back to kennel, ears back, low tail, closed mouth. Hopped right into kennel, tried pushing his way out when removing the leash.
Color Level: Blue
Recommendations: Best suited for children 12+, whole family must meet.
Per staff 4/19: Very food motivated for intake exam. Used food lures with ease to check ears, teeth, do a short run down of his body to check for lumps and scrapes, and to place a collar. Good boy!
Per staff 4/18: Dog is people friendly, very sweet according to firemen who kept him until our arrival. Dog has very soft eyes, mid to low tail wag, not shy at all, inquisitive.
