About luna: LUNA A2077464 - SPAYED FEMALE, WHITE GREAT PYRENEES. Shelter: WEST VALLEY Age: 3 YRS Weight: 47 LBS Scheduled Euthanasia Date: 06/09/2026. This animal is only available to a rescue: No This animal has been at the shelter since 06/09/2026 and on this list since 06/09/2026. Euthanasia Reason - Luna has been involved in multiple documented bite incidents, with the most recent occurring when her owner had her on leash in a residential neighborhood. While unloading the vehicle, Luna observed a neighbor walking on the opposite side of the street and immediately lunged toward the individual. The force of the lunge caused the owner to lose control, dragging her to the ground. Upon falling, the owner inadvertently released the leash. Luna then continued to charge the victim and inflicted a Level 4 bite to the victim's right leg. The victim required emergency medical treatment and received five stitches as a result of the injuries sustained. Since being adopted from West Valley Animal Shelter, Luna has been involved in a total of thirteen documented incidents. The owner has made extensive efforts to address Luna's behavioral concerns, investing approximately $10,000 in professional training and behavior modification services. Despite these interventions, Luna's aggressive behavior has progressively worsened over time. Following the most recent incident, the owner consulted with Luna's trainer regarding her prognosis. The trainer advised that, given the repeated bite history and escalation of aggressive behavior despite extensive training and management efforts, humane euthanasia was the most appropriate course of action. The trainer further indicated that recurrent aggression resulting in multiple bite incidents presents a significant challenge to successfully rehabilitate and safely manage. Based on Luna's extensive bite history, the severity of the most recent attack, the failure of prolonged behavioral intervention efforts, and the substantial risk she poses to public safety, humane euthanasia is warranted. Luna represents an ongoing and significant danger to the community if allowed to remain in circulation. Luna will be humanely euthanized. A specimen will be submitted to County Health as required. The body will be held for private cremation arrangements being coordinated by the owner.
