Manotas was easy to leash, handle, and remove from the kennel. In the play yard, he displayed a social, playful, and relaxed demeanor with both handlers and other dogs. He exchanged greetings appropriately, engaged in play chase and playful wrestling, and frequently sought affection from handlers. Manotas demonstrated a loose, wiggly body throughout most interactions and integrated well into the group.
During one play interaction, another dog overcorrected him, resulting in a brief scuffle. Manotas appeared to defend himself appropriately, and handlers were able to redirect and separate the dogs easily. He sustained a small puncture wound to the muzzle and was taken to medical for treatment.
During his handling assessment, Manotas remained friendly, relaxed, and tolerant of full-body handling without issue. Manotas is recommended for public adoption, medium energy level, and appears suitable with large dogs. He may benefit from continued socialization and confidence building.

?The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may
change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.?
Manotas greeted the runner nicely and was easy to leash/remove from the kennel. Manotas was taken to the catch pen and
was collared/leashed with ease. Manotas greeted the dogs at the barrier with a relaxed demeanor and was allowed into the
play yard. Manotas displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, relaxed tail wag, and soft eyes. He exchanged
greetings nicely and continued to socialize once he moved on. Manotas explored the yard sniffing and marking various
locations. As he explored Manotas was given play bows and he reciprocated. Manotas easily integrated himself into the
group displaying a loose/wiggly demeanor. Manotas participated in play chase and playful wrestling. He continued to play
nicely for some time maintaining a loose/wiggly demeanor. Manotas took breaks to solicit petting from the handlers with a
loose wiggly demeanor. He continued to roam and explore the yard. In one instance Manotas attempted to play with a dog,
but she overcorrected resulting in a scuffle. Manotas appeared to defend himself, but the handlers quickly intervened and
were able to separate them using handler tools (spray bottle/ shake can). Manotas was allowed to decompress but had a small
puncture on his muzzle. Manotas was taken to medical prior to being returned to his kennel. Manotas displayed a social and
playful demeanor with a push/pull play style and was easy to steer during a scuffle. Manotas could benefit from further
socialization and confidence building. See additional assessment for placement recommendations.

Don't adopt just because you feel sorry for manotas!
Adoption should be a well thought out decision, it's a lifetime commitment.
