A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Genevive A5773919 greeted the runner with a timid demeanor, her body was trembling, her eyes were soft but concerned, her tail was low with no wag and her ears were low. The runner coaxed her, she was easy to remove, and she moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when she was introduced to the dogs her body was neutral, her eyes were soft, her tail was neutral with no wag and her ears were neutral. She was easy to collar and leash. She entered the yard and was slightly nervous during her greetings at first. She quickly warmed up, she began to run around with a loose body, a neutral tail wag, soft eyes and an open mouth with a soft pant. She engaged in some play with the dogs. When a husky entered the catch pen she became barrier reactive, she charged, growled, barked, her eyes were focused and her body was tense and forward. The husky entered and roamed the yard, Genevive ran to her with a tense body, she was focused on her and was about to jump on her when the handler gave her a strong verbal correction and used the shake can. Genevive stopped, made eye contact with the handler, and submissively walked away while staring at the handler, her body was low, her eyes were soft and sad, her tail was tucked, and her ears were back. She laid down and stared at the handler. she was extremely easy to steer away from the dogs. Once the handler called her over, she sat next to the handler and stood there most of her time out in the yard. The husky would occasionally pass by her or play with the dogs near her, and she remained neutral. Overall, Genevive was selective of the dogs and she does not have a playstyle at this time. Behaviorally ok for public adoption, no large dogs required with a Known History of Aggression form for animal aggression.
