He entered the yard, and exchanged slightly tense greetings with the other dogs. He tried to mount a few dogs, but was easy to steer. He roamed the yard with a neutral body and an open pant. He approached the handler with a slightly tense body and a wary demeanor, but relaxed when the handler sat on the bench. He leaned against the handler and solicited petting with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and an open pant. He did not engage in play with the other dogs, but was able to coexist with no issues. Spot is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time. However, he became reactive when the runner knelt in an attempt to interact with him, causing Spot to growl, bark, and lunge. He stopped temporarily after the runner stood up but repeated the same behavior when the runner knelt down again. Spot settled after a pet corrector tool was used, then stood in a corner with a nervous demeanor. He allowed himself to be leashed with ease and exited the kennel on his own. Spot proceeded to make his way to the catch pen with a light pull on the leash, bypassing his neighboring kennels. Once inside the catch pen, Spot was collared and leashed without issue prior to entering the yard. Spot exchanged greetings with the other dogs, displaying a neutral posture during the interactions. Following the introduction, he showed interest in one of the dogs as he attempted to engage in play but became overwhelmed when play became rough, causing him to growl as they shoved each other away without escalating further. Spot moved on to explore the environment while sniffing the dogs he met along the way. He approached the runner when called and allowed them to pet him. For the rest of the session, Spot kept to himself, tolerating the other dogs as he roamed the yard. Once the session concluded, he was separated from the group to begin the handling assessment. Spot could benefit from continued socialization in a yard setting with calm dogs, as this may allow him to interact at his own comfort level and gradually develop his social skills. Once inside his kennel, Spot shifted to a tense posture and became reactive, mainly when the handler knelt, causing him to growl and lunge intensely. Spot could benefit from an experienced owner who can patiently work and manage his reactive behavior.
