'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A
dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and
unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change
based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'
Emerald A5782124 barked at the runner when he approached her kennel, her body was neutral, her tail was high with a soft
wag and her eyes were alert. She slowly walked over to the runner and sniffed him, she was wary of the leash but after a few
attempts she was safely removed from the kennel. She moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when she was introduced
to the dogs her body was neutral, her eyes were alert, her tail was neutral with no wag and her ears were alert. She was easy
to collar and leash. She entered the yard and was slightly nervous at first during the greetings. She relaxed after a few
minutes. She began to play with the dogs, she ran around with a relaxed loose body, soft eyes, a neutral tail wag and an open
mouth with a soft pant. She played well with the dogs. One of the dogs started to tip when she played and she pinned
Emerald down, growled and attempted to bite her, Emerald yelped, the handlers quickly stepped in and corrected her, they
moved her away using the shake can. She completely shut down after that, she cornered herself at the edge of the yard and
no longer played. Overall, Emerald was social with the dogs and would benefit best in a gentle/dainty yard.

Emerald A5782124 was moved to the side yard to proceed with her handling assessment. She was allowed the handler to pet
her with no issue, her body was neutral, her eyes were neutral, her tail was low with no wag and her mouth was closed. She
remained sitting by the edge of the kennel and did not move. The handler knelt and pet her, she remained tolerant the entire
time. Overall, Emerald was tolerant of being pet, she displayed no aggression or concerning behavior. Behaviorally ok for
public adoption, large dogs ok
