About orlando: --- 13-AUG-26 - Euthanasia - 08/13/26 10:48 Orlando is a 3-year-old American Bulldog mix who came to the shelter as a stray on 7/23/26. This is Orlando's second time in the shelter, having first arrived as a stray in early 2025 and spending nearly 5 months at the shelter. During both stays at PRC, Orlando warms up slowly to handlers, sometimes hard staring staff nearby until they walk away, and is not overly playful when out of his kennel. He will often explore the yard when out and eventually come over for treats and pets, enjoying rump scratches the most. In the past he has been sensitive to touch around his neck. Orlando is selective with other dogs in shelter playgroup as he prefers to cruise around the yard by himself but can be assertive with other male dogs. While at the shelter he has shown high levels of anxiety and stress with excessive barking and spinning in his kennel, hypersalivating, pacing and painting feces on his kennel walls. Orlando has been given extra enrichment in his kennel and is on behavioral medications to help with these behaviors, but the behaviors continue to persist. PRC has exhausted all available resources for Orlando, and he will continue to decline the longer he stays at the shelter. If there is no commitment by 8/19/26 humane euthanasia is authorized. --- 12-AUG-26 - Final - 8/12/26 **Final plea COB 8/19/26 Not foster or pawdition eligible** Orlando is a 3 year old American Bulldog mix who came to the shelter as a stray. His kennel was painted withe feces -NMS --- 07-AUG-26 - Interact - 08/06/26 14:52 Per Volunteer: Orlando was easy to leash and walked well to the yards. Once inside, he wanted booty scratches and liked looking out the exit. He occasionally allowed head-to-tail petting, briefly played with a tennis ball, and did not accept treats. - CL --- 07-AUG-26 - Rescue - 08/07/26 11:53 rescue request for assistance WP --- 05-AUG-26 - Interact - 08/05/26 09:51 This morning during cleaning, I observed Orlando spinning and excessively barking. There were no dogs or humans around the kennel. jh --- 05-AUG-26 - Interact - Orlando greeted Staff at the kennel door with stiff posture and a high straight tail. Staff offered Orlando several treats to which he accepted. Once Staff unlocked and opened the door, another dog was being taken out in Orlando's field of view. Orlando became Stiff once more and hard stared at the dog with his nose poking through the door. After the dog was out of view, Staff easily leashed Orlando and he walked towards the yard without issue. Once in the yard, Orlando took time to sniff around before approaching Staff. He hard stared Staff until he was offered a treat. Orlando took the treat slowly and often gave paw to both Staff members. He allowed pets and was let off on a loose leash to roam on his own. He was curious about a dog jumping in the neighboring yard and often whined when he saw them. Orlando approached another Staff member present and sniffed her for a bit, then he hard stared her with Stiff posture until she walked away. Orlano was called over by the other Staff Member and accepted pets all over. He was returned without issue. JB 8/5/2026 --- 05-AUG-26 - Note - 08/05/26 Orlando will be given extra enrichment to help manage his kennel stress exhibited by barking, spinning, and jumping. -CR --- 04-AUG-26 - Behavior - 08/04/26 Orlando was placed on Evaluation Behavior due to defensive behaviors in the field and during intake. Since then, Orlando has allowed all handling from staff. Orlando has already begun to leash bite and display kennel stress. He has been started on medication and his leash biting is managable as of now. Orlando met two unfamaliar people while in an office and had no reaction to them although he was a bit tense. Orlando has been cleared from Evaluation Behavior. -CR --- 03-AUG-26 - Behavior - 08/03/26 16:06 Orlando has been barking at the front of the kennel throughout the day. Upon approach, he was still barking at the door. He bit and pulled the leash for a few seconds then released it and was easily leashed. He had similar behavior in the yard as previously noted and ignored a dog being walked by. Easy to return and unleash. -CR --- 02-AUG-26 - Behavior - 08/02/26 13:29 Orlando was at gate when DJ approached, easy to leash up and walk out. Walked ahead of DJ to the play yards. Explored yard and came over to DJ, accepted pets from head to tail, especially rump scratches. Engaged in play with stuffed squeaky toys, chasing them when tossed. No interest in treats while in yard. Walked back to kennel and returned to kennel without issue. -DJ --- 30-JUL-26 - Behavior - 07/30/26 16:09 Upon approach, Orlando was at the kennel door with loose posture. When unlocking the kennel, Orlando began barking and jumping. He bit and pulled the leash once then was slightly distracted with a treat and leashed without issue. He walked with a mild pull and was collared without issue. He sniffed the yard then approached CR for petting. He wiggled his butt when pet above the tail but allowed petting on his head as well. He chased after toys then would shake them and bring them to CR. Orlando was taken to an office due to the rain. In the office, he had similar behavior and had no issue with familiar staff coming and going. CR tried to dry him with a towel and he grabbed it and turned it into a toy. On the third attempt, Orlando grabbed the towel again but when CR started rubbing his back with it, he let go and wiggled while CR rubbed his body, sides, head, chest, and down his back legs. Orlando would push toys in his mouth into staff to engage and played tug. Orlando is very vocal and will grumble when playing and being pet and he will demand bark if ignored. An unfamiliar staff entered the office with familiar staff and Orlando sniffed her with neutral posture and she did not interact with him. Later, a different unfamiliar volunteer entered the office behind a gate and Orlando was had no reaction, staying close to CR and watching him. When the volunteer leaned on the gate, Orlando backed up slightly and tensed but relaxed when the volunteer moved back. He was easy to return and unleash. -CR WATCH MY VIDEO https://www.facebook.com/reel/4567660070172419 Name: Orlando Animal ID: A2440148 Breed: American Bulldog Sex: Male - Neutered Kennel: A52 Intake Date: 23-JUL-26 Found Near: 4504 N 29th St Tampa 33610 Microchip: 991001911520987 Age: 3Y Weight: 71 lbs Days at Shelter: 0
