itadori has 1 day left to live!

About itadori: Intake Info: Itadori A2339548 came to our shelter in July 2026. He was found as a stray alongside two other dogs. Medical: Itadori is fully processed, heartworm negative, and receiving medication for fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) in the shelter environment. Staff Notes: He did well during processing but became highly agitated and began lunging toward clinic staff while tethered after the procedure. He appears to struggle with the stress of the shelter environment and requires thoughtful handling during medical work up. Behavior Notes: Itadori can be affectionate and engaging with familiar handlers, look at that face! He approaches staff with a wagging tail, accepts petting throughout his body, and tolerates muzzle placement when paired with treats. However, he has displayed reactivity toward neighboring dogs in his kennel and assertive, intense playgroup behavior. While he has engaged in play with other dogs, interactions have occasionally escalated into scuffles when both dogs became overstimulated. He has also shown a concerning response to aversive tools, redirecting his attention toward the handler, and bit a volunteer's shoe after being touched while resting near a toy. A gentle, low-pressure approach is recommended, particularly during medical handling and when interrupting or redirecting his behavior. Request to Rescues: Itadori is a handsome, engaging dog who can show a playful and affectionate side, but he is struggling with the stress of the shelter environment and has demonstrated concerning behaviors when overstimulated or uncomfortable. He needs a rescue that can provide structured training, careful management, and positive, low-pressure handling. A placement that understands his behavioral needs and can help him build better coping skills would give Itadori the opportunity to be succeed and be the great boy that he can be!
