About spartacus: Manhattan Center My name is SPARTACUS. My Animal ID # is A1114497. I am a neutered male black and white am pit bull ter and labrador retr mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old. 06/10/2017 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: Less famous gladiator and more silly school boy, 1.5 year old Spartacus is a charmer, to be sure. Surrendered to our care, Spartacus is a wildly adorable young lad and, boy, does he know it. He waits for me quietly in his kennel, looking up ever so slightly, a twinkle in his eye, and a see how calm and patient I am? expression across his face. Naturally I fall for it hook, line, and sinker. Its only as we exit the building and enter an open pen that young Spartacus (Sparty, as I call him) feels comfortable and ready to show his true colors. The moment the leash is off he unleashes his inner puppy, launching into jumps, dives, and squeals, pushing his silly paws against my legs and chest like we are two children on a playground. Play, come on PLAY! he demands. And while I cannot help but feel a little tricked by sweet Sparty, I also cannot help but be swept away by his joyous charms. Later on, when some delicious treats appear on the scene, I learn that Spartacus has had some training in his short life. Sit, stay, and come are all firmly in this boys vocabulary and each one is rewarded with a lip smacking snack. I run my hand along his fluffy, ebony coat and marvel at how thick and full it is. This boy has been well cared for. He has certainly known love. A young boy in the school yard, Spartacus today is wide eyed and electric, full of light and of promise. A noble warrior in the making? Possibly. Quite possibly. Only time, love, guidance, and patience, will let us know for sure. Spartacus is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan ACC. I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/07/2017 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. 06/15/2017 AT RISK MEMO Spartacus A1114497 is at risk due to CIRDC diagnosis.
