***Ready To Go Home***
I'm a ready-to-do dog, meaning I've already been spayed/neutered! This means I can go home with you the same day I'm adopted!!!

This dog has been at the shelter for a month, and she is on borrowed time. She is very very sweet. - Shelter Volunteer SC

This one is fence aggressive meaning she barks like hell at a dog if it's through a fence. If the fence is removed, the dog acts normal. We dog tested this one and she was fine. - Shelter Volunteer DR

Another MAS volunteer who spent time with me said I walked nicely on leash and I was attentive. I did my business as soon as we went outside and I enjoyed the treats she offered me. - Girl, #A301834

A MAS volunteer who spent time with me said I was extremely glad to see people come to my kennel door. I jumped up against it wagging my tail which in turn wagged my whole body. I was extremely grateful to get out of the kennel and get petted by the volunteer. He said I was very affectionate, attentive and responded to the come command. In spite of my enthusiasm for getting out, when it was time to go back in, I did so almost habitually, going directly to and into the kennel where I waited patiently for him to take the leash off and leave. The volunteer thought I'd make a great pet and he's right! - Girl, #A301834

***NO VACANCY***

MAS is full. There is no more kennel space!!!

Heartworm Positive Adoption Fee $20

Breed information is not provided by this shelter. MAS hopes eliminating breed labels will increase the number of animals adopted by eliminating 'breed discrimination.' When entering information on this website the 'Breed:' field is required. All breed information I enter is an educated guess solely based on a photo of the dog.

I try to keep this information as vague as possible, usually entering by group instead of a super specific breed. Why? Almost all of the dogs at MAS are mixed breeds. Being super specific is not going to accurately represent their personality and it would be virtually impossible to do. There are 20+ specific types in the terrier breed group alone, ranging from the tiny Norfolk Terrier to the larger Staffordshire Bull Terrier (which is often lazily labeled a pit bull). Pit bull is actually the name given to types of dogs having certain similar features. See super complicated.

My advice? If you fall in love with a face, go to the shelter and visit with the dog. Ask the staff and volunteers questions. See if their personalities mesh with you and your lifestyle. If the picture you've fallen in love with doesn't fit? Ask if there is a dog whose personality does. Mixed dogs are so much more than the breed they kind of look like.

Remember that you furbaby's adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, heartworm test, collar, leash, and a customized ID tag.
