BIGGIE - A#41327273 ***MUST LEAVE BY 5/7 8PM!*** Intake Type: Owner Surrender -- housing issues Medical Observation: (5/5) Vet Check for dehydration/vomiting (threw up what he drank) -- Big and strong, coughed when pulling hard on leash but eupneic with no spontaneous coughing, no nasal discharge or tracheal. Reportedly spit up water, suspect drank quickly. Not dehydrated, normal abdominal palpation and no V+ today, eating well. No treatments required at this time. To monitor for early breaking of URI. (5/3) Vet Check -- Approximately 6 year old intact male. BCS= 4.5/9. Mild, dried yellow ceruminous debris AS, mild dark brown ceruminous debris with mild erythema of pinna AD; clear, mild palpebral hyperemia OU. No visible live fleas +++Assessment: Condition of ears highly suspicious of Otitis Externa Medical treatments: Mometamax AU Q24 x 10 days - Recheck ears in 10 days Pathway: Medically clear for all pathways Behavior Observation: (5/5) Per vet staff -- Friendly, tolerated full exam but muzzled (5/4) Per volunteer eval -- Dog was excessively drooling and had vomited on floor of the kennel; however, easily leashed and no issues walking through kennel. Really easy walker -- seems to have back leg mobility issues. Received all over body pets as I wiped him down from drooling and vomiting. Interested in toys but did not take possession. Per former owner- The owner claims the dog is protective over his home and family but he is not physically aggressive. The dog hard barks at strangers but he tends to calm down eventually once he feels comfortable. The dog resource guards, but he never actively pursues anyone. The owner says the dog is also playful, but can be nervous in new places and with strangers. Behaves well with 8 year old. The owner has crated the dog for about 4 hours every day. The dog has no problems with being crated. (5/3) Per Vet Staff -- Initially tail wagging and receptive to attention but gradually became more nervous and cautious - required muzzling for remainder of exam; reactive during oral examination Personality: 2.
