About swiss roll: Swiss Roll ACCT-A-120373 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical and behavioral concerns. Swiss Roll must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Sunday, August 21st by 10:00am. Should Swiss Roll's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Email lifesaving@acctphilly.org if your rescue can pull or if you can foster through rescue. Swiss Roll is a 4 year old who came to ACCT as a stray on the 14th. Swiss Roll is a chunky man who very much resembles the dessert he is named after! He was noted to be favoring his rear leg. During his exam it was noted that, "He was easy to leash and didn't pull. Loose and wiggly body language until I went to pet him. He stopped wagging and tensed up when I pet his head. When interacting with handlers on multiple occasions Swiss Roll has tensed up with handling and seems uncomfortable with petting. Upon examination it was found that Swiss Roll has a right cranial cruciate rupture. He ideally needs to have an orthopedic consult and TPLO or other surgical intervention Without surgery Swiss Roll will likely have degenerative joint disease of the right stifle and may always be somewhat lame on this leg. NSAIDs and other chronic pain medication may be necessary to maintain a good quality of life. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
