𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 Kiko was easy to leash in the kennel and walked well going through the building. Once outside, every single noise scared him. He's extremely skittish and will not let me pet him. I spent about 45 minutes in the run with him and not once would he come over to me. I know he wants to but then the littlest sound sets him off to run away. Literally I dropped a piece of paper and he jumped.🥺 I get a feeling this boy has not been outside most of his life because he is definitely not used to any of the noises surrounding him. He is an owner surrender so may have always been an inside dog or always in a kennel so he will need a Handler who has experience teaching him how to gain confidence and feel safe with all the new sounds. When it was time to bring him back inside he was very difficult to catch. But once we got him leashed, he did allow us to pet him and we got the thick ugly collar off. You could see a weight lift off of him. He just seemed so relieved and allowed us to give him lots of pets.
𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 INTAKE: 1 DOG CONFINED TO KENNEL AT ALIEF SCHOOL PROPERTY 3/4 As I approached the kennel, Kiko was bowing with his head low at the kennel door. His tail was tucked and he had large whale eyes. I baby talked and opened the kennel door slowly. Kiko immediately backed away and crouched his body low as he stayed by the divider. More baby talk didn't work but I did drop some treats down and he hesitantly leaned his head over and ate them. I went to leash him and he pulled his head back drastically and he looked up at me with whale eyes. Every attempt to leash him up he kept pulling his head back and cowering into the corner of the kennel. I was able to get him out leashed up with the help of another team member. Kiko wouldn't walk, he kept his head on a swivel and was frantically looking around as he kept his body low to the ground. He was accepting treats however he kept frantically looking around while eating them.
3/3 Approaching kennel, dog has whale eyes, back ears, and is pulling his body back but maintaining his front legs forward. I offer treats and dog slowly goes towards them but I notice that he flinches back when I get closer with babytalk to attempt to leash him. He does display a very tense body when loose leash walking and maintains back ears with a low head. Will monitor behavior and cover kennel door.
