About audi: Audi ACCT-A-214021 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Audi must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by TUESDAY, MARCH 11th at 10AM. Should Audi?s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Audi is a young, energetic pup who?s still learning how to navigate the world. Found as a stray on February 26th, he?s friendly and eager for attention, leaning in for pets and soaking up affection. However, he?s also feeling quite stressed and has a hard time settling down, often jumping, leash biting, and mouthing when overstimulated. His leash biting is now escalating despite being on behavior medications. Audi is looking for a patient adopter or a rescue partner who can help him build confidence, manage his energy, and learn how to relax. He has done well meeting other dogs, so if you have any at home please bring them along for a meet. Due to his mouthiness and leash biting, Audi is looking for a home without children. With the right guidance, this affectionate boy will shine! Due to his behavioral concerns, Audi is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter.

BEHAVIOR:
Per staff 3/7: I asked [staff] to take Audi out for a walk today to see if being moved to a double kennel helped with his leash biting stress. He leashed him up took for a walk he said he did well for the most part, he tried to start to leash bite, he stopped walking asked for him to drop it and he did. They continued on their walk back in and he tried it again going back into kennel, he again stopped asked him to drop it and he went into kennel. He just needs a strong leader at this time with the anxiety he is presenting.
Per staff 3/6: While taking dog out for spot check as he had painted his kennel dog was leash biting hard and jumping high to handlers hand. I then took the dog from the [staff member] as we were waiting for a rope toy. Audi continued to jump higher and higher while walkieing for a rope toy again he progressively was jumping higher until yet another handler arrived with a toy and we put him in a double sided kennel.
Per volunteer 2/28: I took Audi out for playgroup today. He?s a strong boy but so playful and eager for attention. He did great in playgroup- he likes to wrestle around and can be vocal while playing. His good match for another dog buddy would be one who likes to play and is a confident dog.
Per volunteer 2/28: Sweet dog! Cries a little when nervous but super sweet.
Per staff 2/27:
KENNEL PRESENTATION: Audi was at the front of his kennel and had neutral body language, soft eyes and allowed for me to easily slip the leash over his head. Exited and returned without issue.
LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally, stops often in the kennels to look at his surroundings before continuing on
HANDLING: In the room Audi was quite stressed and was panting, whining, pacing around and jumping at me. He allowed all handling without issue and was tolerant, leaning in and soliciting often, but was very stressed and would get overstimulated beginning to mouth at me while petting him. If I was not paying attention to him he would begin to jump at me more, claw at me and was very persistent. He was having a very tough time managing his stress while out today. No interest in treats.
PLAY: Engaged in play- can get mouthy and jumpy but seemed more stress based vs arousal
TOYS: Interest but no possession
Per staff 2/26: Bright, alert, and responsive, very sweet and friendly, wiggly and jumpy, very high energy
Per staff 2/26: Very playful, was a big goof in the lobby.
Per finder 2/26: Good with all [strangers, children, and other animals], good on leash, friendly.
MEDICAL:
On 3/6, Audi was noted to have improving behavior during his PCR test, so his medications were extended.
On 3/4, Audi was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. He tested negative for pneumovirus.
On 3/1, his dose of gabapentin was increased to 600mg twice daily.
Per an exam on 2/27, ?Cursory behavioral examination performed. Patient was resting calmly in run when retrieved for exam and became quickly energetic when in the exam room. He began jumping vigorously on examiners and attempted to bite at his lead.? He was prescribed 400mg of gabapentin and 200mg of trazodone to be given twice daily while at the shelter.
During his intake exam on 2/26, Audi?s eyes were red and his ears were slightly waxy. His teeth had no staining and his coat was clean.
