About lucky: Several long term adoptable dogs were euthanized March 25 to make room for all the dogs who keep coming in at our high intake shelter. Lucky was a "maybe" then so he may even be at the Rainbow Bridge by now. If he is still alive, volunteers will find out Friday, but he is out of time and will probably be next when another dog comes in and needs his run.
Lucky is a sweet boy who likes walking on a leash, but he could use some training classes so he won't pull. The former owner said Lucky is good with children. He is about 2 1/2 years old and fully grown at 59 pounds. Lucky is not good with some other dogs. He is capable of climbing a fence, so he can't be left outdoors alone. Lucky gives up strong indications that he is housetrained or will housetrain easily. Lucky as been at the shelter since October, and even though he gets lots of visitors, he still has no forever home, and our shelter runs short on space.
Dogs and puppies are given at least one set of vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before going to their new homes.
Call the East Bank Animal Shelter at (504)736-6111 and ask for Darrel if you are interested in adopting Lucky. A yard check, two personal references and a vet reference are required to adopt Lucky. Remember to give the animal's ID number. The Eastbank Shelter is located on the Earhart Expressway Service Road at S. Clearview in Harahan, a suburb just west of New Orleans.
