volunteer writes: Goose was so sweet in her cage looking at me to see if I would be her friend. When I opened the door she walked to the other side of her double cage, but then she came back to check me out. I squatted down and talked gently to her. She came over and sniffed my ear and then gave me a lick on my cheek. As we walked out she was full of life, happy and easy going. She was a little wary when she saw another pitbull and wanted to avoid any interaction. When we got to the park, I sat on the bench and she jumped up next to me and wagged her tail. She just wanted some cuddling. She really melted my heart. What a sweet loving dog. This amazing sweet, sweet girl deserves a forever home that wants a gentle loving dog like Goose.
A volunteer writes: It may be the season of bunnies and ducklings but the true emblem of spring is a girl named Sadie. At just 2 years old she is more of a pup, a quiet beauty with a hot chocolate coat and eyes brimming over with soul. For me, it was love at first sight. But as with spring itself and all things worth waiting for, Goose took some time to warm. No matter. Good things come to those who wait and for a face like that I would wait forever. And roughly one hour later our girl was ready when I passed by. We settle onto a stoop and she snuggles against my side. She sprinkles me with kisses as I pass her treats, and folds her paws underneath her once more. Shes known a home, the feeling of waking up at the foot of a bed, the comfort of a hearty meal, the happy exhaustion of a long walk. But even happy stories end and seasons they do change. And with spring comes Sadies new chapter and her chance to find happiness once more. As we make our way back I spot something moving high above. A silver bird on a single branch with a chest the color of fire. I stop to marvel at it. And quickly search my pockets for my phone, to commit this memory to screen. But the moment I find it the creature is gone. Flown up and flown off, on to the next adventure. I am disappointed. But before the feeling can set in Sadie is tugging gently at the leash. Its time to move on. And so we do. Sadie is waiting in adoptions at Manhattans ACC.
