Can stand but is very reluctant to walk. Stands wit hind legs splaying and when guided to ambulate, walks with circumbucting gait in the hind. BCS= 3/9 Neuro: QAR, decreased to absent CPs in hind, suspect proprioceptive/spinal ataxia in hind. Limited oral exam - rostral teeth WNL +++Assessment: Adult pittie who was surrendered for abnormal hind limb gait who is displaying proprioceptive deficits on exam - r/o IVDD vs trauma/fracture vs myelitis vs neoplasia vs infectious vs nutrititional. Would need full neuro exam, monitoring of progress on NSAIDs, and spinal rads as next steps Medical treatments: Gave carprofen 4.4 mg/kg injection. Schedule carprofen 100 mg PO SID x 3d. Pathway: Rec promoting to rescue willing to monitor and work up gait - TS for EOD 8/3 Behavior Observation: Per Lifesaving- sleeping in front of kennel when approached, awoke with tail tucked but wagging, when kennel door was opened approached with tag wagging to light head pets, but dodged and retreated when leashing was attempted. Re-approached for further pets and allowed lead to be placed over head with pets, once exiting kennel tail was completely tucked, and Ninja froze and began shaking with tense mouth, did move towards door with coaxing from handler, but eventually froze again and did not want to go further towards door to go outside, returned to kennel easily and allowed leash to be removed easily Per Vet Staff- frozen Per Owner- Active, nervous, affectionate, playful, good with people, Good with kids, Wasn't really around any other animals This animal is not available through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs, due to serious concerns with observed medical and/or behavioral issues.
