Joe was placed at risk due to behavioral concerns; Because of Joe's high level of fear coupled with the behavioral challenges his previous owner reports, we feel as though he may be best set up to succeed if placed with an experienced rescue partner who can reassess his behavior in a more stable home environment. Joe was placed diagnosed with Dermatitis.
OWNER SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: Joe is a 5 year old male large mixed breed that came in to BACC as an owner surrender. The owner is moving out of the country and unable to take Joe with him. There are no known injuries or health issues. He previously lived with 2 adults. Around strangers, he will bark and lunge forward especially if someone gets close to the owner. Joe has not been around children. He has not been around other dogs but will bark and lunge at them if he sees them. He has not been around cats but will bark and lunge at them if he sees them. It is unknown how Joe will react if his food, toys, or treats are touched or taken away because it was never done. Joe has no bite history, is partially housetrained and his previous owner describes his energy level as high.
Other Notes:
Joe will destroy stuff outdoors. He isn't bothered by storms or fireworks. He will bark and lunge if someone unfamiliar approaches the home or a family member.
