Tensed body, whale eyes, i placed the leash he followed me outside, he growled at dogs that passed by. He followed into a new kennel
Walk up to the kennel, Champ was at the front of the kennel with a semi-relax body, and tense swaying tail. Walking Champ out to the run, he walked well on a loose leash and his body became semi-relax with a soft mouth. And in the
kennel Champ is quiet.
07/18/25 10:16 Circling at front of kennel when approached to take out, sat back on hind legs and pushed door with front paws. Walked out with semi-tight leash to grass and pottied. Didn't potty in kennel overnight. Has not been vocal in kennel
towards other dogs; removing adopt eval.
07/17/25 12:21 Balanced on hind legs and pressed face into door while opening, walked with semi-tight leash outside but also hadn't pottied in kennel overnight, kept it clean and neat. Pottied as soon as he reached grass. Semi-loose leash
coming back inside, affectionate.
was vocal in kennel during am feeding and cleaning. as i approached champ presented a relaxed body, high slow wagging tail, soft mouth with loose tongue. walked in and out of south on a semi loose leash.
was vocal in kennel during am feeding and cleaning. presented an aroused body, with panting, jumping on kennel door
and vocalizing in a high pitch. once leashed walked on a semi forward leash but did not pull very hard. walked back inside on a loose leash and entered his kennel with no issues.
dog was over aroused in the kennel constantly jumping and when i approched he tried to dart out and once on the leash he began to pull had to place him in south nursery run and he was still vocal and when i approched him to bring him back to his kennel he pulled back until i walked in and so did he as i tried to get out he tried to get out through my legs told him
to sit and he did after a few temps and when feeding i had an ACT help me pick up enrichment and as she walked in to pick his up he jumped on her and was being mouthy.
Upon approach of the kennel, Champ displayed a high-pitched whining bark while jumping on the kennel door. I was easily able to work with him with high-value meaty treats but he was very loud when customers stopped by his kennel.
Recommend covering the whole kennel to reduce stimulation since he is very stressed. When I approached kennel cover wasn?t fully covering the kennel door, causing the dog to become stressed. When approaching the kennel, I would toss in
treats from the bottom of the kennel. Dogs on both sides of him are feeding into his behavior as well. I was able to leash up but had to step into the kennel to fix the placement of the leash. he jumped on me and barked, but I was able to redirect him. He was very bewildered when walking down the barking loud row but was easily redirected. Was pulling on the leash
hard, trying to go outside while frantic, but once we were outside, he settled down fast.
Location: Outside South building
When outside, his demeanor completely changed, and he began eating treats offered more gently. He was at the front of the leash but didn?t try pulling too hard. When I stopped, he stopped and waited for me to continue the walk. I began to
use the walk as a reward for him to reduce the leftover tension on the leash, and he did very well with it, eventually walking at my pace on a slack leash. During the walk, I found out he already knew ?Sit? and needed a refresher on ?Down?. He
seems to have prior training; he just needs to be refreshed. He did show interest in the dogs out in the South Runs, often turning his head to them and watching them play while keeping slack on leash and loose body. To gain his focus back on
to me I did the ?Go Find/ Find it? game.
Location: Photography Room
I offered him a Food puzzle to work on while I was writing notes; he thrived on Food puzzles, figuring them out quickly and enjoyed them. Due to him getting more excited while taking treats, I did go over a substitute behavior of a sit for treats to
be released, which he did well with. In doing this, I noticed he seemed very sensitive to touch. When I reached out to pet him, he motioned with his head to not touch him by a head nodding upward with an open, relaxed mouth. To reduce any
potential mouthy behaviors, I stopped my advance and offered a treat to the ground and then pet. We practiced allowing
a pet and being able to disengage, which he did excellently. He began to offer his cheek to my hand in a r
Approaching kennel, Champ whined, panted, ears up, eyes dilated, paced, cirlced then sat by the door. He tried to bolt out of the kennel. When leashing from an outside, he was jumping and pawing at the gate making it difficult to leash.

🚨Notes from BARC: Behavior (Over aroused in kennel, constantly jumping and attempting to dart out. Jumping up onto handler becoming mouthy .)
