💙 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: We were not able to meet Liam.
📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: 6/14: Liam greeted staff at the kennel door and allowed easy leashing. He walked calmly on a loose leash to the runs and remained relaxed outside. Although initially hesitant to be leashed on the return trip, he responded well when called and walked back to his kennel on a loose leash. 6/13: Liam was easily leashed and walked loosely with a neutral body. He spent much of the day resting quietly in his kennel. 6/11: Staff noted a soft facial expression and wagging tail. He walked nicely to the runs but later appeared worried and tense when returning, freezing in place and needing assistance getting back inside. 6/10: Initially avoided contact and stayed in the back of the run, but after some time he came forward to greet staff with a loose body and high wagging tail. He was successfully leashed and moved to a new kennel. 6/9'6/8: Liam appeared fearful and overwhelmed, often lowering his head, moving slowly, trembling, and avoiding the leash. Gentle encouragement and baby talk helped him navigate the shelter environment. 6/7: Liam was able to be leashed and walked out slowly, though he frequently froze, pancaked, and needed to be carried back to his kennel.
🚑 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: ' Approximately 50 pounds ' High positive heartworm test at intake ' Upper respiratory infection (URI/CIRD) diagnosed on 6/14 ' Completed 10 days of Doxycycline but continues to have a dry hacking cough, nasal discharge, and occasional phlegm ' Prescribed an additional 5 days of Doxycycline treatment ' Hair loss around neck noted at intake; no further treatment required ' Vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated
💙 Liam is not a dog who immediately shines in a stressful shelter environment. He is a dog who needs patience, kindness, and a chance to feel safe. His behavior notes tell the story of a frightened husky mix slowly beginning to trust the people around him. Despite his fear, he continues to make progress and seek connection. Liam deserves the opportunity to continue that journey in a home or foster setting instead of losing his life in the shelter.
