Cookie King is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Cookie has been observed to be highly dog reactive while in care, noted to become tense when seeing another dog. This behavior is not able to be redirected easily. Recently Cookie has been observed to lunge towards a dog in a pop up crate and snapping towards them. This behavior was very difficult to redirect. With handlers Cookie is observed to have a loose and wiggly body. Medically, Cookie is apparently healthy.

Cookie King was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him after first arriving at ACC as a stray. This sweet, treat-loving boy has quickly won over volunteers with his happy-go-lucky personality, wiggly greetings, and enthusiasm for making new friends. If you're looking for a dog who's always excited to spend time with you, Cookie King is ready to earn a permanent spot in your heart.

My Ideal Home

Cookie King would love an active home that can give him plenty of exercise, enrichment, and positive reinforcement training. He's an energetic boy who enjoys toys, treats, and staying busy, and he'll thrive with adopters who can help channel all of that excitement into fun adventures.

Good with Other Pets?

Cookie King gets very excited when he sees other dogs and can pull toward them to say hello. While shelter introductions have shown an enthusiastic greeting style, slow introductions to any resident dogs are recommended to help everyone feel comfortable.

Good with Kids?

ACC recommends a home with no children under 13 at this time.

Things to Know

Cookie King is a highly social dog who loves people and isn't shy about showing it. He can become easily excited and may jump around or get a little over aroused during play and handling, but he's eager to engage and enjoys toys, treats, and being part of the action. He's a wonderful candidate for continued reward-based training that helps him learn calm manners while keeping his fun-loving spirit intact.

"What's a wonderful guy like this doing in a pop-up crate in the hallway when there is so much fun to be had in the world?" Volunteers describe Cookie King as an incredibly sweet dog who has everyone rooting for him. He's affectionately known as "treat obsessed," happily accepting just about any snack, and they'd love to see him put on a little healthy weight. One volunteer's wish is simple: come take him for a walk... and then keep walking all the way home.
