🩺 MEDICAL NOTES:
Lester is HIGH POSITIVE for heartworms. He has generalized dermatitis, scattered hair loss and old wounds on his face. Veterinary staff noted a strong yeast-like odor and suspect fungal/yeast dermatitis secondary to allergies, living conditions and/or nutrition. He received Advantage Multi, vaccines, deworming and Pyrantel.

🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Lester appears frightened. He allows staff to leash him but has fought the leash, including bucking and biting at it when pressured to walk, and there is a reported history of attempting to bite.
But his 9/11 note also gives us a heartbreaking glimpse underneath that fear. Lester immediately pancaked to the floor and wouldn't walk, yet when the handler crouched down, spoke gently and petted his head, Lester nudged their hand for more affection. He even army-crawled toward the kennel door to continue receiving pets before becoming too frightened to go farther.
Later, he curled up with his back to the kennel door and wouldn't lift his head. Lester isn't coping with the shelter environment and needs an experienced rescue capable of safely helping a fearful, medically needy dog decompress.
