🩺 MEDICAL NOTES:
Jay came to BARC unable to bear weight on his right rear leg, holding it up with swelling around his hip. His right leg appeared shorter than the left, with marked muscle atrophy, suggesting this may be an older injury.
💔 Radiographs revealed that Jay's right hip is dislocated and his right acetabulum may also be damaged. BARC notes that he will need consultation with an orthopedic surgeon to determine his treatment options.
He is currently receiving Carprofen 75 mg once daily for 10 days and Gabapentin 200 mg twice daily for 10 days for pain management.
⚠️ Jay also tested HIGH POSITIVE for heartworms.

Despite coming into the shelter with a painful orthopedic injury, Jay was able to be examined and receive his initial medical workup, vaccinations and radiographs. No specific behavioral concerns are documented in the notes provided.
