The Murray-Calloway Animal Shelter is a county-run and open admission shelter that operates for Calloway County in Murray, Kentucky. It is a small, rural shelter that attempts to accomodate as many homeless pets as it can. The shelter does euthanize as a last resort due to limited space, illness, and behavior (extreme aggression). The Adoption Fee is $20 cash and an application is required. Please have landlord permission before applying. The majority of the pets do not have vet care although sometimes they do should they be an owner surrender. The Humane Society of Calloway County does offer 1/2 off spay/neuter certificates if you meet their guidelines and if done at one of our 5 qualified vet clinics in Murray, KY. Strays have a 5-day Hold for owner reclaim, then are placed for adoption if appropriate. Owner surrenders are available Immediately! We are usually operating at capacity and are constantly making room for new admissions. The only solution to this problem of over-population is to SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!
