A volunteer writes: I love the older dogs, the grey muzzles add a layer of dignity and distinction?. lives lived, experiences shared with love, with lots of years still to come. Savannah is no exception. Adopted from us 7 years ago and surrendered as her person lost her home, Savannah comes with wonderful comments about a life well lived. She?s gentle with children and adults, waits for her owner to tell her it?s OK to greet a stranger as she can be protective, doesn?t guard her things, loves rope toys, is very housetrained, and knows sit, stay and come. I had my eye on this beauty as she snoozed in her kennel, and when she finally stood up I knew she needed a walk to go potty. Her leash manners are lovely, her tail waves gently as we walk, and indeed taking care of her ?business? was her first priority once outside. Calm, gentle, and softly affectionate Savannah joined me on the park bench for some sweet kisses. A bad experience with dogs a few years ago makes her wary of dogs, however in her first group interaction she sniffed politely and played when solicited. As always, a meet and greet with a resident dog is recommended. I loved my time with Savannah; her calm demeanor makes her a treasure to be cherished. Shouldn?t she be yours?

Group:
Savanah?s previous owner cites: Savanah has never lived with another dog and does not like other dogs due to a bad experience. Savannah and her owner were charged and attacked by 3 other large dogs. However, when introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Savanah sniffs politely and is initially tolerant of solicitation. She reciprocates and continues to play for the remainder of the interaction. The behavior team feels that taking her history into consideration, a home with another dog could be considered pending a thorough pre adoption interaction and slow introductions at a comfortable pace. It is unknown how her behavior around dogs will translate into a home setting.
