A volunteer writes: When our beautiful blonde Augusts family lost their home, August also lost everything she held dear. Her human parents, her three human siblings ages 6,7, and newborn, and two small dogs with whom she was playful, relaxed and tolerant. Her Shar Pei heritage showing clearly in her adorable face, she can be a bit shy and aloof until she gets to know someone. August and I made friends immediately. Easily leashed she hopped out of her kennel, wagged her tail and we head for the door. Her tail wags as we walk, and when we stop for some photos she allows a neck piece over her head, and then does the most extraordinary head tilt when I make kissy noises at her. Talk about concentration! August then further wows me with her sit, and paw and how gently she takes treats. We cuddle a bit, August in my lap, her small size a perfect fit. We are told from her former family that she does not guard her things, loves hard toys, loves being with her family, is crate trained and mostly housetrained. Shes smart, focused and loves treats so any additional training should be easy with consistency and positive reinforcement. When our walk was over Miss August hopped right back into her kennel with a wag of her tail. Ready to win any beauty pageant, any personality contest, Miss August is ready to declare March the winner. The month she finds a new family to love. Do not pass her by.
