Behavior Observation:
(9/15) Per Management -- Met adopter and was fine for a few minutes. Adopter went to pet the dog and got a bit too close to his face and Toby reacted by snapping and then lunging. Adopter was able to grab leash and get behind trash can that was in the yard. I then grabbed the dogs leash and brought him back inside with no issue.
(9/08) Volunteer Eval- presented at front of kennel, a little pushy to come out of kennel but manageable, exited and entered kennel easily, pulls strongly/hard on leash, would benefit from harness, didn't pull quite as hard after moving his bowels, walked through kennels and outside with no issue (just strong and pulls hard), loose/allows handling- did not push him, but was able to pet face, under chin and back, some lip licking observed when scratching base of tail, overall loose and friendly, approached another volunteer nice and loose with tail mid range and wagging, some arousal in run- tail held high, very interested in looking around, engaged in tag by following handler around run and was a little bouncy, loved squeaky toy and ripped up immediately, played half-way fetch, sniffed treat but did not take
(9/07) Per Owner- typically in the yard all the time. Has been around other animals. "Anything that comes near his enclosure, he will kill it". Concerning behavior issues: Aggression, hard barking, growling, and attacking animals. Has tried to attack people but no success. Why do you think this behavior is happening: Thinks he was chained all his life and not properly socialized.
