About sora: A2177162 - SORA - SIBERIAN HUSKY WHITE N 2Y REASON: EUTH OWNER REQUEST

Sora was surrendered to the shelter last month after his family was evicted. Since then our behavior team has been working with Sora, and feel he is best suited with a rescue that is accustomed to his breed specific behaviors. Per his previous owner: Sora seems to prefer women. He can be standoffish with new people and needs slow introductions with time to adjust. In public he can be a bit rambunctious and hard to control. Sora does what he wants and jumps on people. He can be mouthy and when overstimulated gets too rough. He is not recommended around children. Sora has not been socialized with dogs and does not get along with cats. He can be destructive when left alone and scratch the walls. Sora does resource guard food sometimes. Sora loves to play fetch! He also enjoys belly rubs. He can show fear aggression and growl when at the vet. He has lived inside and is housebroken. He was crated when he was younger and did well but has not needed to be a crate for over a year. He is respectful of doors and fences. He is not leash trained. Sora can be anxious in the car and tends to move around a lot. Sora developed some sort of vision problem last year. Since then he has further developed some resource guarding. True to husky, he is a lot of talk and often makes lots of noise.
Sora has been neutered and is heartworm negative. It is suspected that he is visually impaired and can see light and shadows. It is recommended he get a consultation with ophthalmologist to determine cause and assess need for treatment. Vision may in part be contributing to his behavior and is not recommended for households with children or an inexperienced dog owner. He has been on a couple of meet and greet with potential adopters both male and female adopters. During the meet and greet he interacted with the male citizen calmly. Upon greeting the female citizen she spoke to him in a higher pitched voice that seemed to excite him. He was then mouthy with the female citizen causing a small scratch that didn't break the skin on the hand. With another small scratch without breaking skin on the arm from him jumping up on her.
