About pop pop: Pop Pop ACCT-A-113488 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Pop Pop must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by Saturday, May 21st, at 10 a.m. Should Pop Pop's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Pop Pop is a senior boy that came to the shelter when our officers picked him up from a woman's yard. He had a swollen ear and was urinating blood. The officer that picked Pop Pop up stated that he tried to urinate multiple times during their interaction, but no urine was coming out. Our vet said this upon examination of Pop Pop: "Senior dog with many masses, bilateral ear infections with aural hematoma of the left pinna that is starting to scar (which indicates that it is somewhat chronic), and difficulty urinating. The difficulty with urination could be secondary to benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), irritation from crystals in urine, bladder stones, UTI, bladder neoplasia (TCC) or other. Obtained a urine sample to send out for analysis, but would benefit from radiographs +/- focal bladder ultrasound to determine if there is a more significant underlying issue. Rescue promotion is recommended. Behaviorally, Pop Pop has been a typical senior dog. He sleeps most of the day, and enjoys leisurely walks with volunteer pals. One of our volunteers said this about Pop Pop: "When I went to take him out of his kennel he was curled up in a blanket. I called for him but he didn't look my way. I figured he was hard of hearing and tapped the bottom of the kennel floor. He lifted his head up and wiggled himself over my way. He was easy to leash and had no trouble stepping out of his kennel. An ACO saw us walking and told me how much she loved him and that she recently brought him in. She said she thought he was having trouble going to the bathroom. For me, as soon as we got outside he pooped, he pooped twice both formed normal poop. When he went to pee he had his leg lifted and then after a few second he went. He did urinate a few times while we were out. He's an older gentleman and has some dry elbows and a lump towards his left hind leg. He allowed all handling and let me check everything out. He is very affectionate, walked nicely on the leash for me and was a complete love." Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
