𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 Spot is an interesting guy. Overall his behavior is good, however I think he will need an experienced handler. His notes of air snapping led me to only leash walk him to avoid leashing and unleashing too many times. He walked well on the leash and immediately went potty outside so he may be potty trained. He had no reaction when walking past other dogs in their kennels either! He sat for me when on our walk and showed off his stunning coat. He can be snippy with treats and flinchy, which is why I?d recommend an experienced handler only, at least until he decompresses. I had no issues with him until I had to unleash him. He didn?t try to bite me but the tension in his face and the look he gave me led me to ask for an ACT to help with getting the leash off. He?s definitely overstimulated and scared here, so a nice calm home environment to decompress in would likely do wonders.
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: Upon intake dog was barking/lunging at at me in the car while trying to get information. Citizen found this dog at her apartment complex. She stated she brought him yesterday but forgot her ID. She brought him back today with ID. She stated he had liquid bloody stool and refuses to eat. Dog also is thin. During work up dog was extremely timid and kept turning to return to the car. He started to thrash. I was able to sweet talk him to stop thrashing and get him inside. Once tied to the wall for photo he started to low growl, tail tucked between legs and whale eyes. We lightly muzzled him and he started to thrash, and growl with teeth barred. He defecated on himself during the work up and it was liquid with frank blood and almost orange colored stool. When I got to the kennel, dog started to alligator roll on the leash and despite through treats into kennel refused. I had to leash and pick him up. He tried to charge out of the kennel as I was taking leash off. Unable to take leash off and left inside of kennel.
𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: 1/16: Approaching kennel, Dog is sitting in corner, with dialated pupils and a whale eye, Attempting to leahs dog began to move head backwards and holding a hard stare with a whale eye, I leashed and baby talked to dog, he began to walk out slowly with a tucked tail, with points of pulling back at times, but allowed redirection to walk out, another ACT walked dog back in.
1/19: as i approached dog presented a tense body, dilated whale eyes, lip licking and tucked in tail. as i went to leash dog would flinch and air snapped once towards the leash. was able to leash after a minute and dog began walking. as we walked dog maintained as mush distance from me as the leash allowed. once outside dog began sniffing around while darting eyes from me and then his surroundings. once he used the potty we began walking back inside and he walked ahead of me. walked into his kennel without issues and remained frozen as i slowly approached to remove his leash. was able to remove leash and close his kennel door without issues.
