𝗣𝗹𝗲𝐚 Perdita gave birth to her pups in the middle of a pile of trash.
She is the sweetest girl! When I met her this morning, she stretched her neck as much as she could to get all the scratches from me. She has a post on our social media pages. Please let us know if you can help this friendly momma and her family.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 caller reporting a mom dog and some puppies that were birthed in the middle of the cul de sac where there is a lot of trash, caller says the puppies were just born with their eyes still closed
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 The sight of a mother dog nursing her newborn puppies amidst a heap of trash is something that feels like it belongs in a commercial with Sarah Mclachlan music, yet it is a stark reality for many street-born pets. This heartbreaking scene was witnessed firsthand by dedicated animal enforcement officer Bocanegra earlier today when responding to a call to aid the young mother dog who had given birth to her puppies in a trash pile at the end of a cul-de-sac. Affectionately named Perdita, she was doing her best to care for her puppies despite the challenging circumstances. Perdita, a friendly and exceptional mother, continued to nurture her puppies even during the journey in the AEO truck. Now, Perdita and her litter of eight newborn puppies are on their way to the shelter, where they will receive warmth, food, and care. While the shelter provides a better environment than a trash pile, it is still not an ideal place to raise her young ones. We are seeking assistance to find a rescue or foster for Perdita (A1931186) and her puppies and appreciate any help in spreading the word.
Fostering a pet is free, and BARC will supply all the necessary items for Perdita and her puppies. Contact BARCFoster@houstontx.gov if you are able to provide a temporary foster home for this family until Perdita's puppies are ready for adoption.
