This pet is urgent for FAS (Fear, Anxiety, Stress)
Urgent: at risk of euthanasia
On 8/7/24 I visited Zeus at his pop up kennel. He was at the front and seemed interested in my presence. I offered my hand and he bared his teeth, snarling, and snapped. He did this to multiple other staff members. FAS 5. Blue dots added to kennel cards. Emailed supervisors to move pet to double sided stand up kennel for safety and to reduce FAS
On 8/8/24 I visited Zeus at his kennel. He had spent the night in an adequate enclosure which seemed to reduce his FAS. He greeted me at the front and took treats (albeit roughly). He knows "sit". I opened the door and he was easy to leash up. He does pull on the leash (hard). We walked outside to the play yard.
Once outside, he mostly explored on his own. I tried to engage him with a few toys, but he showed no interest. We spent some more time outside, but he still wasn't interested in engaging with me unless there were treats.
I brought him back inside and brought him to clinic to do a heartworm test. I attempted to muzzle him and he let out a low growl. Pet nurse Rosa stepped into assist me. We gave him more treats and I attempted to muzzle him again. I was able to secure the muzzle, but he became very tense. I slowly attempted to touch his arm for a blood draw, and he let out a growl. I stepped away and attempted to offer him treats to distract him so I could remove the muzzle. He gave me a hard stare and remained tense, uninterested in treats. We scattered multiple treats on the floor which he went for and I was able to remove the muzzle, but he did growl again once the muzzle was unsnapped. I quickly moved away and allowed him to remove the muzzle on his own. Videos and photos uploaded
