About binx: Binx ACCT-A-171374 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Binx must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER, or RESCUE PARTNER by Thursday, September 5th by 10:00 am. Should Binx's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.
Binx is a shy but incredibly sweet 1-year-old puppy who needs a friend to help her feel secure. Despite her young age, she is calm and content. Binx engages in some play and is showing more interest in toys. She would love to find a patient, loving home where she can build confidence and flourish. At the shelter, she has had a good meet with another dog. She is polite and will allow for greeting sniffs, then burst into a sweet and playful pup. When with her handler, she also doesn't mind becoming a lap pup and enjoying snuggle time.
Binx came to the shelter on 8/11 as a stray found by a good samaritan. When given an initial exam, she was noted to be in overall good health, weighing in at 41 lbs, and aged at 1 year old. Then on 8/15 Binx came down with an upper respiratory infection and was given a PCR test. The PCR test came back positive for pneumovirus and she was moved to ISO for treatment. On 8/29 she was retested and came back negative and had finished treatment.
NOTES:
On 9/1 per staff: Binx had a meet with Beanie today. Binx went potty after a few minutes of being outside. She got excited to meet Beanie and gave a loose tail wags. After initial sniffs of each other, Binx was ready to play! She excitedly pulled forward and was ready for a good play sesh. She respected Beanie when he gave her sniffs and would try her hardest to stay still and polite. After the meet Binx enjoyed sitting and sniffing around her environment. Did well for leashing and does not pull much on the leash during walks. This girl also loves laying on your lap for snuggles!
On 8/30 per volunteer: Binx was patiently waiting in her kennel while I was taking out the other dogs for walks. She was calm, easy to leash and has ABSOLUTELY stunning markings (her photos don't do it justice). She's a petite playful little girl who loved being outside in the fresh air.
She gracefully ran around the dog run and wanted to engage and play with me. She allowed all over pets and handling and after our outside time was up, she easily returned to her kennel. She'd most likely be a great dog for a first time owner who wants to engage in basic training together.

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Binx was on her bed trembling when I approached. She had soft eyes though and some low wags. I sat on the edge of kennel and she came up allowing me to pet her but would retreat to her bed when she saw the leash. I easily leashed her but she pancaked and would not move. I tried coaxing her out but she was very scared of the kennels! She did allow me to lift her out of the kennel though and once out walked slow on leash.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally, needed lots of encouragement
HANDLING:
Binx is a timid and sweet little puppy! In the room she was timid but would slowly approach me with low wags and soft eyes. She was very gentle and would solicit attention and stand calmly beside me. She allowed all handling without any issues. When meeting new people she was shy but would approach with submissive body language and wags. Sweet girl who just needs a gentle approach.
PLAY:
Engaged in some play
