Vol 2: Esmeralda was laying calmly in her kennel when I approached and she got up to say hello with little kisses for me and a waggy tail! She was easy to leash and although she walks a little slow and low to the ground she didn?t have any issues walking on a leash. She didn?t seem super interested in other dogs down the row but also wasn?t bothered by them. She takes treats gently from your hand and really preferred the meatball snack a staff member gave her. She let me dress her up and then she rolled over asking for belly rubs! She?s a super sweet and gentle girl even though it appears she?s had a rough life. I think she?ll come out of her shell outside of the shelter.
Vol 1: When I saw Esmerelda, she had the saddest eyes and healing wounds on her face, and I knew I had to take her out. She was easy to leash, but clearly very nervous and unsure of the world and if humans are safe. She had a tucked tail and was constantly looking around for ways to escape in the runs. She wasn't interested in treats, other dogs or pets. This girl clearly had a rough life, but was sweet as pie. Esmerelda absolutely broke my heart, and I hope and pray that she makes it out. She deserves to have a beautiful life with humans that make sure she will never get hurt again.
