Clementine ACCT-A-222482 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Clementine must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Thursday, July 3rd, 2025 at 10AM. Should Clementine?s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Meet Clementine ? as sweet and gentle as the fruit she?s named after!

Clementine is a soft-eyed senior girl who?s been through a lot, but has never lost her calm, kind spirit. Found in rough shape and brought to the shelter, Clementine has shown us just how special she is ? full of quiet resilience and an old-soul warmth that?s impossible not to love.

This darling lady is a dream on leash, seems to be housetrained, and takes treats with the gentlest little nibble. She loves being brushed, enjoys short walks, and melts into affection with anyone who offers her a soft touch. Volunteers describe her as ?the sweetest,? with one saying, ?She just enjoyed our walk and loved being petted ? those old soul eyes really get you.?

Clementine has been easy to handle for vet care, calmly taking her medications (especially when tucked into tasty treats!) and allowing all handling without fuss. She does have some age-related medical needs ? including joint stiffness, mild mobility challenges, and dental disease ? so she?s looking for an adopter or rescue who can help her stay comfortable and loved through her golden years. She?s also recently been treated for a mild upper respiratory infection (a common shelter cold), and continues to be monitored by our team.

She?s had some polite dog meets at the shelter, giving appropriate senior-lady corrections when younger pups get a little too bold, but ultimately coexisting peacefully.

And one more fun fact? Clementine LOVES the kiddie pool! Watching her wade in to cool off on a warm day is an absolute joy ? she?d love a home where she can enjoy sunshine, fresh air, and soft places to rest her paws.

Clementine?s heart is full of love, and she?s ready to share it with someone special. Could you be the one to give her the comfort, care, and peace she so deserves?

Behavior Notes:
Per volunteer 6/15: What a sweet girl ! She walked to the kennel door, easy to leash and just enjoyed our walk outside. She seems to be potty trained and took treats so gently. She had old soul eyes and enjoyed being pet.

Per staff 6/13/25: According to Clementine?s walksheet, a staff member noted on 6/12 that they had 0 issues throughout their walk, adding that she was medium energy and a ?sweet calm girl - housetrained!?

Per staff 6/10/25: BAR, no restraints needed for Vaccines, loves treats and food, takes very gentle, less is more with this sweetest girl

Per staff 6/9/25: ?I spent a lot of time with Clementine today and she is just the sweetest. Prior to her dog meet, I took her to intake to get her vaccines and she did amazingly! Allowed all handling, and barely even flinched for vaccines or microchip. She loved being fed hot dogs by staff. She then took a brief nap in the office while waiting for her dog meet. She allowed all over pets and while she didn?t solicit much, she did seem to enjoy them. Sweet girl!

She did relatively well for her dog meet with Luffy. Luffy was initially very forward and got in her face, and Clementine gave a little correction which Luffy took on the chin: a snarl & somewhat half-hearted air snap. We then dropped leash for Clementine and let them coexist for a bit. Clementine did allow Luffy to fully sniff her body, and showed a wagging tail, but as Luffy was passing by her face again, she did let out a similar correction, and burst forward a little bit. She did respond to the spray bottle in both this instance and as a test of steering, although it did take a few seconds to register. After this, they both walked around the yard and interacted a few more times, pretty much peacefully coexisting from there on out. She was easy to walk through kennels both times, and only needed a slight bit of leash pressure to return to kennel.?

Per staff 6/9/25: Brought Luffy out for a dog meet with Clementine, who offered her appropriate corrections (grumbles/low growl & slight lip raise, quick air snap, requesting space) during initial face-to-face greetings. Luffy respected Clementine's correction, and both were able to remain in the yard, peacefully wandering, sniffing, and occasionally re-greeting (Clementine once or twice came up to sniff Luffy before going her own way again).

Per staff 6/9/25: She's a very sweet girl, allowed all handling needed for exam. There was a small dog in the room and she didn't seem to mind at all.
