Mocha is a gentle soul who seems to enjoy a calm environment. From our volunteer observations, this 6-year-old pup appears to be treat-oriented and likes exploring the outdoors at a leisurely pace. While initially a bit shy, Mocha has shown to be sweet and easy to handle. Come meet Mocha today!

SIGNALMENT: 6-year-old, altered, female, white with black spots, pit bull type dog
COLLAR: None noted
DEMEANOR: Quiet, sweet, friendly.
EYES: Eyes are clear, no evidence of redness, discharge, or other abnormalities OU.
EARS: Ears have a small amount of moist, brown discharge without evidence of redness, odor, or other abnormalities AU.
NOSE: No nasal discharge or other abnormalities.
ORAL: Incisors are severely worn, as are tips of canines, abundant calculi on premolars.
LYM: Peripheral lymph nodes are normal without evidence of firmness or pain.
INTEG: Fur is soft, thin, and dull, skin on the dorsal pinnae is alopecic, thickened, and hyperkeratotic, the skin overlying the elbows and lateral tarsi is alopecic, discolored, and thickened, fur on the tail is alopecic with multiple scabs, there is an approximately 2.5 x 3.5 cm cutaneous soft to semi-firm mass on the medial left tarsus, an approximately 1.5 cm diameter cutaneous mass on the left medial thigh, an approximately 3.4 x 4.5 cm ventral abdominal subcutaneous mass (nonreducible abdominal hernia?) and skin tags are on the left lateral thigh and right lateral neck. Abundant flea feces are abundant with few deceased fleas, and the underlying skin is hyperemic. A ventral abdominal turquoise tattoo is present. Nails are appropriate in length.
H/L: Normal sinus rhythm, no murmurs auscultated, pulses strong and synchronous; no evidence of increased respiratory rate or effort, increased bronchovesicular sounds.
ABD: Abdomen is soft, non-painful, not distended with no palpable organomegaly, masses or other abnormalities.
UG: Feces formed and brown with few tapeworms present
MS: BCS 4/9, Ambulatory x 4, no evidence of lameness or joint pain/swelling.
NEURO: Normal mentation and gait, CN?s normal; full neurological exam not performed.

02/27/20: EASY TO HANDLE IN LOBBY
03/02/20: The dog was taken out of its kennel without issue, and walked to the play yard. She would growl but only when barked at by the other dogs. She was easy to handle and didn't lunge at the other dogs. After being let into the yard she did over correct, but was easily disruptable with a shake can.
09/24/25: laying down on bed, calm, quiet, sniffed hand
09/30/25: when approaching kennel, stays on cot, observes you. slow to get up with treat offered, might be due to older dog issues. very treat oriented. quiet, wants to step out, a little tense with leash.

Warms Up; Waits Calmly for Attention She seems lethargic. Did approach the kennel when prompted and received pets through the kennel gate/was gentle but returned to sleep shortly after.

Large growths all over, especially on the neck
So timid, scared to come out. Moves very slow.
10/08/25: Mocha was standing quietly in her kennel when I stopped in front of it. She was easy to leash up and bring outside to the play yard. Mocha slowly walked around the play yard, doing some sniffing. Her tail hung down, it was not tucked and she did not wag it. She did come up to me when called, walking slowly. She allowed me to pet her on her head and her neck. She had a calm friendly demeanor.

Not quite confident in the yard, keeps a distance from other dogs and didn't engage with rest of group. Did well with the gentle dogs and allowed greetings from those who approached.
