💜 Volunteer Notes:
Luke is a two-year-old gorgeous male, about 54 pounds, and heartworm negative. He?s been waiting at the shelter since December 7th, quietly hoping someone will finally notice him.

When I approached his kennel, Luke didn?t bark or jump. He simply sat there, calm and patient, waiting for me to come get him. He was very easy to leash and walked beautifully on the leash?he doesn?t jump or pull at all.

Luke took his treats so gently, listened well, and showed just how polite he is. He clearly enjoys human affection and leaned right into head scratches, enjoying every bit of kindness. On our walk, he did great passing other dogs kennels, wagging his tail the whole time.

Luke is one of those dogs who doesn?t demand attention?but absolutely deserves it. He?s steady, respectful, and sweet, and he would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, loving dog.

📝 Shelter Notes:

12/8/2025 ? In kennel with neutral face and body. Opened door and quickly leashed him. He stayed in place with same body language and slow wagging tail. Lightly tugged leash but he did not walk out so handler entered kennel and got behind him. He started to walk but froze outside of kennel. Responded well to baby talk and petting. Had to carry him to new kennel, no muzzle needed.
12/9/2025 ? Dog was laying down and when leashed stood up and walked slowly but then began to pancake with tail tucked. Ended up getting behind handler into little pushes and would walk and outside he pulled on leash and in run he just sniffed around and was brought back. Same thing had to gently push him from behind to get in kennel.
12/13/2025 ? Approaching kennel, Luke was standing on all fours close to the gate with ears up, wagging tail, open mouth smile, and neutral body. As he was leashed, he walked on a loose leash and neutral to dogs back from outside run. After walks, Luke started to whine and howl when sitting in his run for a period of time. Run was covered with a sheet. Later observed that he pulled the sheet through the bars and was given extra enrichment to keep him occupied while fortifying sheet from being pulled again.
12/15/2025 ? Luke is friendly, approaching with loose wiggly body, waggy tail, and ears rose. Walks on a semi loose leash.
12/16/2025 ? Luke was neutral on his walk to and from the outside run. He whined and tried to leave his run when spot cleaning but was stopped. He continued to whine for a period of time before stopping and laying down on his cot while chewing on enrichment toy.
12/29/2025 ? Approaching kennel, Luke greeted with a soft face, sat, whimpered, eyes dilated, ears out to the sides. Easily leashed and walked loosely. Hopped and reared once, wagging tail, ears back, open mouth. Quiet in his kennel throughout the rest of the day.
1/2/2026 ? 01/02/26 17:17 Was forward barking, lunging at other dogs being walked past his kennel by volunteers. Placed sheet to cover his kennel but kept pulling it in.
1/3/2026 ? During morning walk when Luke was in his kennel, he would vocalize and become reactive toward dogs being walked past his kennel. When it was his turn to walk, he walked on a loose leash and stayed very close to handler. While in outside runs, he would start to vocalize with dogs that got too close to him through the run gate.
1/4/2026 ? Luke would vocalize and become reactive toward dogs being walked past his kennel. When it was his turn to walk, he walked on a loose leash and stayed very close to handler. While in outside runs, he would forward vocalize and whine toward handler as other dogs were being returned to kennels.

🚑 Medical Notes:

12/7/2025 ? Intake exam completed. Weight 53.8 lbs. Heartworm test negative.
12/21/2025 ? Weight stable at 53.8 lbs.
1/4/2026 ? Recheck exam completed. No significant medical concerns noted.
