📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
6/30/26: During morning walks, Koda walked on a tight leash due to forward pulling and paid little attention to other dogs as he passed them by the runs and kennels. While in the run, Koda would high-pitched bark and whine loudly when he saw staff and other volunteers walk by. On the way back, he became aroused on leash for a short time before calming down and walking normally back to his kennel. He was jumping around, heavily panting, and attempted to bite the leash when it was near his face. Staff noted dilated eyes.
6/29/26: Koda was hyper and panting. Staff tossed treats to leash him up, and he walked in a zigzag pattern while pulling on the leash. He displayed a high, fast wagging tail and a wiggly body when leashed.
6/28/26: Koda walked on a tight leash due to forward pulling and paid little attention to other dogs he passed. While in the run, he barked and whined loudly when he saw staff and volunteers pass by and continued this behavior until he returned to his kennel.
6/27/26: Koda was placed on adoption evaluation due to alarm barking. While outside in the runs during cleaning time, he caused the other dogs to become vocal.
6/25/26: Koda was vocal in his kennel during morning feeding and cleaning. When approached, he displayed a neutral body, high fast wagging tail, front feet lifting off the ground, and a soft open mouth with a loose tongue. He walked on a semi-loose leash while occasionally picking up treat trails.
6/24/26: Koda was moved to the outdoor kennels in the morning and paced his kennel while vocalizing, panting, wagging his tail rapidly, and jumping on the kennel door. Once leashed, he walked on a forward-pulling leash while ignoring treat trails. He began vocalizing in the outdoor kennel and was provided additional enrichment.
6/20/26: Koda greeted staff with a loose, wiggly body and walked on a semi-tight leash. Staff described him as very sweet and very vocal while outside in the runs. He greeted handlers at the gate and walked back to his clean kennel on a semi-tight leash.

💙 Despite Koda's vocalization and arousal in the shelter environment, staff consistently describe him as sweet, social, and eager to interact with people. He displays loose, wiggly body language, enjoys treats, and is easy to leash. Koda urgently needs a calm environment where he can decompress and receive structure, enrichment, and positive outlets for his energy.
