Melina is topping the charts with her sadness. And with how long her nails were. It took her longer than most to adjust to shelter life and we still are trying to convince her daily she is worthy of love. Melina is nervous and will cower in corners if we let her. She will also rest her head in our hands when we tell her how wonderful she is. Melina is a gentle girl looking for people that care deeply and give her time to feel comfortable.

Came in as an abandoned confiscate on 7/14/26 and is available for rescue holds NOW, transferable on 7/20/26 at 7PM.

Melina is the kind of dog you meet once and keep thinking about. ❤️
She was found alone after being left behind by her owners and arrived at the shelter in less than ideal condition. Sometimes she still cowers when she's unsure.
But she's changing.
She's learning that people can be kind, that she is safe, and that she can let a little more of her sweet personality show each day.
Melina doesn't need someone to fix her. She needs someone willing to meet her where she is, give her time and discover who she becomes when she finally feels safe.
