Cherry is at risk due to behavioral concerns. In the Care Centers, Cherry was observed to escalate to hard barking, snarling, and lunging. She has also attempted to engage in kennel fighting with neighboring dogs and was reported to lunge toward people and other animals while on leash. In calmer, lower-stimulation environments, Cherry has shown an ability to engage with staff and accept treats. According to her previous owner, Cherry knows several cues, including "sit," "down," "give paw," and "come." Medically, Cherry is apparently healthy.

Since arriving at the care centers Cherry has displayed high levels of reactivity as well as other behavior concerns related fearful and defensive aggression. Her former owners report she is aggressive toward strangers and in care has displayed high levels of kennel and on-leash reactivity. We recommend placement with a New Hope rescue partner who is able to provide an experienced, adult-only foster home. Force-free, reward based training and/or consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended.
