Intake Info: Nate A2334769 came into our care in May 2026 after being left at a pet sitter's home and never picked up. Although we were able to contact his previous owner, Nate was never reclaimed. He was described as friendly.
Medical: Nate is heartworm negative, fully processed, and was previously treated for kennel cough. He is currently receiving FAS medication.
Staff Notes: Nate was briefly adopted but returned approximately two months later because he pulled strongly on the leash and was difficult for his elderly adopter to handle. His adopter described him as very friendly with people.
Behavior Notes: Nate has a hard time settling into the shelter environment and frequently seeks exits in his kennel and the yard. He often pulls toward the exit when being leashed and may hesitate or plant himself when encouraged to walk toward the yard. During playgroups, he tends to keep to himself and sit near the exit, though he has tolerated the presence of other dogs and has greeted some with a wagging tail. In the office, however, Nate shows a softer side. His body relaxes, his tail softens, and he seeks attention and affection from staff. He has also been manageable with handling tools and has accepted treats.
Request to Rescues: Nate seems to be struggling with shelter life, and we would love to see him get the chance to feel comfortable and secure again. Behind his exit-seeking behavior is a dog who can relax, connect with people, and enjoy affection when given the right environment. Nate needs a patient, loving home where he can decompress, build confidence, and let his sweet personality shine. A rescue willing to give him that chance could make all the difference for him.
