Bio
Meet Kane ,
Kane is in need of a rescue, foster, or adopter willing to provide the extensive medical care he requires. He is currently experiencing widespread skin inflammation, hair loss, facial fold dermatitis, and chronic infections in both ears. His skin and ear conditions will require ongoing, potentially lifelong management and may require specialized care from a veterinary dermatologist. Bilateral ear canal ablation surgery may also be recommended.
Additionally, Kane has bilateral entropion, a condition in which the eyelids roll inward, causing irritation and discomfort. He will need surgery to correct this condition and help protect his eyes.
Kane deserves the opportunity to receive the medical attention he needs and live a more comfortable life. We are urgently seeking someone willing to step up for him.

Kane is currently at risk for euthanasia. If you are interested in helping him, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so our team can follow up with you.

Owner Surrender Notes
11/02/26: ASO arrived at location and made contact with the caller/owner's son, who stated that he is the son of the dog's owner, an elderly woman. The son explained that his mother has become increasingly forgetful due to her age and sometimes forgets to take the dog out of the kennel, leaving the dog kenneled for extended periods. He also stated that he works as a truck driver and is not home consistently to assist with the dog's care. Additionally, he advised that his mother is ill and has cancer, making it difficult for her to properly care for the dog. The son further stated that the dog appears to be experiencing medical issues and that the family cannot afford veterinary care. He expressed his desire to voluntarily surrender the dog.

Shelter Observations
11/02/26: Slowly approached to greet with curious tail wag, sniffed hand, allowed pets but easily startled
11/03/26: Kane was at the front of his kennel, eager to go outside. He was startled by loud noises and unfamiliar sounds but was able to be leashed and taken to the yard without any issues. Kane knows the \"sit\" command and enjoys receiving pets and attention. He has a very gentle demeanor and was sweet and receptive throughout the interaction.
