About sarge: A4874564 Sarge is a huggable black-and-tan neutered male 7-year-old German Shepherd who was returned to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on November 4th by the owners who had adopted him from the shelter in September (they did not provide a reason for his return and he originally came into the Care Center as a stray). Overweight at 98 lbs, Sarge is a gentle giant with a loving disposition. He is such a cuddly dog that you just want to sit down next to him and give him lots of petting and love. Once he has lost some extra weight with a good diet and exercise, he will be a head-turner, too. We suspect that he was kept outside and that he he hasn't had a lot of socialization with other dogs, about whom he is curious; he should be properly introduced to new canine pals so he can learn how to behave politely around other dogs. Sarge seems to be housebroken and knows how to sit, though he does pull a bit on leash, so he could benefit from some additional training to polish his skills. He demonstrates the intelligence and loyalty for which German Shepherds are prized, so he should be easy to train. Sarge will be happy as an indoor dog with a family who has the time to take him on walks and give him lots of love, and he will reward you with his full devotion.
