About mocha: My name is MOCHA and I'm approximately 3 years and 2 months old female germ shepherd. I have been at the Castaic Animal Care Center since February 1, 2025. She greeted the runner at the kennel gate with soft body language and was easy to loop leash. She walked to the play yard with a moderate pull. She entered the catch pen with soft eyes and a low tail. She was avoidant of the play yard fence and did not greet the other dogs. She was easily collared by the runner but was a little head shy. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time and exchanged soft greetings with them both. She offered a play bow to a female shepherd and they engaged in gentle/dainty play. After their play, she began to roam the yard and explore her surroundings. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to roam the yard and exchange soft greetings with the other dogs. She remained playful and social for the rest of her time in the yard. She would approach the handlers but was wary of faster movements and needed a go-slow approach. Mocha is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style. Handling She was taken to the catch pen for the handling assessment after play group. She was given a moment to acclimate to her surroundings. The handler knelt and called to her. She approached the handler willingly with soft eyes and low tail wag. She allowed the handler to pet her on the head but was a little head shy. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. When the handler touched her tail, she tucked it under and had concerned eyes. When the handler touched her back paw, she quickly spun around toward the handler?s hand but had a closed mouth. She was returned to her kennel without issue. Due to her need for a slower approach and her handling sensitivity of certain areas, she will be designated as adults only required.
