Oreo - Dog Behavior Bio Summary (For Adoption Partner Placement with Waiver & Indemnity Form)
Oreo displays a mix of excitement and tension in new environments. He becomes excitable when approached and can be difficult to manage around other dogs, showing stiff body language and resistance to moving away from them. On leash, he pulls strongly. In the catch pen, Oreo showed tension, and for safety, he was muzzled before entering the yard. He exhibited conflict-driven behavior, challenging and attempting to fight other dogs, but was unable to make contact due to the muzzle. He was later moved to a side yard to decompress alone. Oreo has medium energy and does not engage in play with other dogs. He is responsive to handlers, allowing full-body handling and showing calm behavior during the assessment.
Important Note: Oreo was involved in an unprovoked attack on a small stray dog that resulted in fatal injuries. According to the responding ACO's report, Oreo was loose at the time of the attack. No known victim to date. This behavior history requires placement with a waiver and indemnity form.

Oreo was at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body and wiggly body. He began barking excitedly, and jumping up and
down when the runner approached the kennel. He darted out of the kennel when the runner opened the door to leash him,
and began running loose in the building. Heran up to the other kennels with a stiff body, and was difficult to move away.
However, the runner was able to leash him after a few seconds. He pulled strongly on leash, and was easy to collar. In the
catch pen, his body was tense, his eyes were focused, his mouth was closed, and his tail was high with a stiff wag. He was
muzzled prior to entering the yard for the safety of the other dogs. He entered the yard with a tense body and immediately
began trying to remove the muzzle. He noticed a dog lying under the table, and immediately ran over to pin her down. The
handler used the leash to move him away from the other dog. He roamed the yard with a tense body, challenging the other
dogs. He displayed conflict driven behavior, running into any minor scuffle and attempting to fight with the other dogs . The
handlers were able to steer him away, but he continued to challenge the other dogs. He attempted to fight with a calm male,
but was unable to bite the other dog due to the muzzle. However, he remained very focused on the dog, and was difficult to
steer. Once the handlers were able to move him away from the other dog, he was sent to the side yard to decompress by
himself. Oreo is slightly offensive with the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time.

HANDLING
DOWNEY
A5679871
Oreo was already in the side yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. The handler entered the yard,
and Ore approached the handler with a relaxed body, soft eyes, a closed mouth, and a neutral tail. The muzzle was not
removed for the first part of the assessment. The handler was able to pet his whole body with no issues, so the muzzle was
removed. Oreo stood by the handler?s side with a neutral body, open pant, soft eyes, and a loose tail wag. He allowed the
handler to repeat the full handling assessment, and did not display any concerning behavior. When the assessment was over,
he stayed next to the handler and allowed the handler to continue petting him.
